Teaching innovation and the use of ICT in university education

Jesús Salinas

Abstract

To be able to adapt to the needs of current society, higher education institutions have to be flexible and develop ways of integrating the information and communications technologies into their teaching processes. Likewise, a new conception of the student-user is also required, as well as changes in the role of teachers and administrative changes to the communication systems and in the design and distribution of the teaching. All this implies, in turn, changes to the canons of teaching and learning to make the model more flexible. To be able to understand the processes of change and their effects, as well as the possibilities offered by the technological advances and changes for teaching and learning systems, we need to look at the framework to these processes of innovation.
