Digital scientific journals: characteristics and indicators

Abstract


The background and main characteristics of digital scientific journals are discussed. We next review the main indicators used to evaluate digital journals, grouped under three main headings: formal aspects, suitability to the digital media, and dissemination and impact. Finally, some reflections are made on the credibility of this type of publication.
