Paradojas y dilemas de las universidades iberoamericanas ante la sociedad del conocimiento, by Adriana Gewerc Barujer (coord.)

Selín Carrasco

Abstract

This book is the result of research carried out in the framework of a project set up by the AECID, which includes universities from Latin America and Spain, belonging to the UNISIC network. The project focuses on the analysis of how these universities are adapting to the information and knowledge society, examining their position in society and the use of information and communication technologies by academic staff.

A critical and complex analysis is carried out on the training of university lecturers with regard to their present-day needs, and an overview is given of particular components of the knowledge society embraced by Ibero-American academics, the way ICTs are used and the universities' policies in this field.

The aim of the book is to go beyond a mere presentation of research results by expounding the process of deliberation and the debates that took place over the course of the research.

Keywords

notions of space and time in the information society; ICT in Ibero-American universities; digital divide; cultural noosphere; training of university lecturers
