The electronic portfolio: development of professional competencies using the Web
Abstract
The article discusses the characteristics and educational role of an electronic portfolio for students in the context of a virtual university. The portfolio in question places considerable emphasis on the formative assessment of learning on the basis of the ongoing development of professional competencies during the course in Educational Psychology, which are then summarized in a Practicum. The acquisition of competencies is documented through the publication of evidence of different levels of achievement. The e-portfolios are individual and are reinforced by a feedback-based teacher support mechanism that helps the students to adjust their performance to the professional competencies required.
