Learning in the e-learning environment: strategies and the figure of the e-moderator

Diana Benito

Abstract

The integration of Spanish universities in the new European Space of Higher Education implies a conceptual and methodological change not only in the structure of university studies but also in the processes of teaching and learning, and the conditions in which they develop. The didactic strategies which we apply have an impact on the quality of educational activities and require a major repertoire on the part of lecturers. This process of change leads to a teaching paradigm in which the student is the centre of the whole education process, causing the role of the teacher to be redefined, with the role of online tutor or e-moderator becoming crucial for the success of e-learning.
